Topic awaiting preservation: execCommand()

Hello all .

I can bold selection with "document.execCommand("Bold");"
But , I couldn't bold selection text in <textarea> tag .

How can i do it ?

In all the places I've seen that used it has been when you take a <div> and make it contenteditable, like this: <div id="writablediv" contenteditable="true">Text to edit here</div>
Havn't seen it in <textarea>
