Topic awaiting preservation: Changing picture shapes (Page 1 of 1)

Hi,
I am new with Photoshop (version 7.0), and I need to change a picture from a rectangle to a trapezoid. Basically, I have six images and I want to strech some of them so they would look like this:

If someone could tell me how to do it, it would be really great.

Not being a great Photoshopper myself I'm not sure if there are better methods, but I've been doing it this way:

1. Select the whole picture using the Marquee tool
2. Right-click into the selection, choose Free Transform
3. Holding down Strg, drag the corners to their new positions (try holding Shift as well as that might be handy in your case, too)

Also, now that I've done that, the picture has white background spots where it was stretched, how can I apply my own background to it, OR, out of what I have now, how do I cut out only the picture, without the space around it?

Although Kuckus is on the right track, what you would want for this particular task is

Edti >> Transform >> Perspective

Now, as far as the white - it depends on a lot of things.

Is there white around the images to start? If so, cut them out before transforming them so you have a straight line to follow.

Is the white only appearing when you save as a .gif? In that case, look in the :FAQ: for 'transparency' - there are a few very handy bits in there that will tell you far more than I could explain.
