Well, the painting is pretty nicely done, but I beleive that this belongs in "Photoshop".

EDIT: Wow, it *is* in PS. I could have sworn I was in Sigs. I need to go to bed. . .

hi AnoMecha and welcome. I like the painting although the facial features seem to be too far over to (our) left. also please note a picture this size is best linked to from a 30k or less thumbnail.
enjoy your stay

Welcome to the Asylum! I like what you did. Good color, good mood behind it... Kind of Matrix in a way. My only suggestion other than what was given before is the jaggies around the fingernails. Ladies do not like rough fingernails like that . Nice piece though.

All in all a nice piece. It's good to see a first post like this =)

Morph - you'll notice the face is turned slightly to the right, which would mean her 'features' would also be slightly more to the right =)

Now, I don't really mind the kind of illustrative feel that it has right now, but something about it is just nagging me for a bit more detail. Perhaps some more shading to smooth out some parts. The sharp highlights are good, but I think - especially on the face and hands - I'd like to see the shadows fade into darker tones.

DL-44, yes I considered the three quarter angle but it still looks wrong. if that much of her left side were showing then there should be more of her nose showing on the left. also the left lens of the shades is wider than the right

Synax: Well they are: jbwise@hddtudios.com so it isn't a big suprise. And I think we also appreciate the ention of twitch

AnoMecha: As this is your tutorial:
www.luminesce-impression.com/psvectortut.html

is that (generally) how you did it? Personally I find the transition between the colours a bit harsh but nice stuff

First sry for posting such a large pic, i'll use a link next time.

the tut, you brought up is the one that sparked the desire to simulate the vector style art in PS. It was a good friend that sent me the link to the vector-ish site that had many differing styles and techniques in doing it. I also came across a tutorial on www.myjanee.com that was about simulating real world objects in PS that was similer but focused more on painting the objects from the ground up one color at a time. in the end i used a little of both styles and came up with this product this is the second attempt at this as this http://www.hddstudios.com/JG_vector.html was the first. and i stuck more to the vectorish style and, well, didnt like it.

in the end i am not very happy with the final result but hey i only spent a whole 5 or 6 hours on it. It was just a learning piece and i learned a lot. So i will try to find another subject matter to do another and take more time in the process.

To synax: what do you mean by dont get to excited? inside humor? forgive me i am new.

in all thanx for the responces i agree there are many things wrong with this as it is very hurried and unfleshed so to speek. but i did learn a lot for the next round.

morph - it's only a slight angle.

In real life there are more possible angles than 90/45/0

As you can see from the link, it is actually directly evolved from a photo, so there's not much room to speculate on what it *would* look like
