Well, it may be one of the reasons why there's no big button labelled "make a reflection" in Photoshop. The pictures you pointed out, were obviously done with a 3D program ( e.g. 3D Studio Max, Maya, LightWave, Rhino ... to name some ). Even if you have a picture of the underside of the car, you'll have all the pain of the world to get that kind of realistic relfection with just Photoshop. As you can see, the reflection depends of the 3D shape of the object so it'll be extremely hard to reproduce it in pure 2D even with displace maps.

No, there's no magic button. Learn the software, learn some basic concepts about art and design. Go from there....

I am asking for direction if anyone knows what software it is, Please tell me. I am willing to learn the software but I need direction. I know now that this cannot be achieved in Photoshop. At least I am one step closer.

You could get a 3d program and learn how to model, uvw map, and texture. Should only take a few short weeks.

Personally, I think you are better off faking it with PS. All it takes is some creative transforming and a few strokes with a brush. You know, get to know the various transforms (Perspective, Distort, etc.), do some chopping, then paint the under carriage and mask out some of the hood.

If you really want to go the 3d route, I'll toss out some links.

Actually since they are skins for the vehicals in Nascar 2003, my guess is there are UV templates on the games website. http://games.sierra.com/games/racing2003/downloadspaint.php. According to some of the forums there is somekind of 3D paintshop view or some such thing. My guess they were rendered in that and then hacked out in Photoshop and dropped on a black background. Perhap as others pointed 3D Max or some other render could have been used Quick glance at the Nascar 2003 forums reveiled a few 3D Max related topics.

Yes, it can.

It just won't happen with a button click. You need to have a little understanding of both the artistic aspects of it, and of Photoshop itself. And that also applies to attempting this in any other program.

The underside of the car that is visible is *far* from complex - it's some grey blurry blobs basically....

If you look at the picture more closely you will see that all the undersides of the cars are exactly the sames.

As DL wisely suggested, you just have to paint a single underside and apply it to all your cars. Possibly you can alter it slightly on each car.
