Hi, This is my fist venture into this part of the Asylum, deceptively big isn't it?
I recently made my first web pages using.....FrontPage Ducks For the main purpose of being able to make links to work I have done (images, photos, ect) to other forums in the Aslyum. But having done that, I want more.
I get the impression that FP is not highly thought of and most people recommend hand coding using somthing simple like notepad.
So not wanting to be a slacker I am setting off on the trail for good html tutorials to start off with. The one I am using at the moment W3 Schools seems ok to be, but what do I know? Ziltch.
Your guidence, venerable inmates, is needed. I know you don't deal with all the basic stuff, but perhaps you (who I do trust) could guide me to a good place to learn, and what tools to use.
I will also have the opportunity of learning to use Dreamweaver through the summer.
Many thanks
Tao

Step away from the DarkSide. Leave FrontPage behind you now, and salvation will be within reach!

Always remember the Faq. After reading that the next step is to learn CSS. When you've got a good grasp on the basics of both of those the best way to learn more is just to play around with them. See what other people have done with only those two things and try to create something like it. If you're stuck look at their code for help or ask here

Yes, the w3 school tutorials are a great place to start. In addition to the FAQ that Veneficuz directed you to, this one - :FAQ: will give you some great advice on code editors.

You know, I tried learning css through that Webmonkey tutorial, after I had taught myself the uberbasics of HTML, and it didn't work for me. Because in that tutorial they kept referring to .foo And I never knew that "foo" means as much as the dutch "bla" So eventually I gave up

A little sidenote about Dreamweaver: Dreamweaver is very visual. The WYSIWYG principle. But it clutters useless html-code. I learnt it at school, but now I'm trainee with a company that uses Homesite instead. This program gives you much more power over the html than Dreamweaver, though at first it might seem a little more complicated.
