I'm just working on validating my website and the question popped up, if I should use strict or transitional doctype. The thing is, that I use the target (_blank) attribute, which does not exist in the strict doctype.

Should I stick to the strict doctype or rather change to transitional?

Another thing: This error message doesn't make me any smarter -
Line 79, column 92: document type does not allow element "form" here; missing one of "object", "ins", "del", "map" start-tag
I have no idea what could be wrong there. Here's the complete validation page: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.3d-community.com%2Flayout.php

I always use strict when it is possible.

I don't know what the end results are, but there are a few threads and I beleive a FAQ setup on how to handle the target="_blank" in xhtml - look around.

As far as that error goes - you can't have a form inside a paragraph. It's also not a good idea to nest a paragraph inside another paragraph.

It makes sense that it works that way - the form element is *not* part of the paragraph, so it is illogical to code it that way. Nested paragraphs simply don't make any sense at all, structurally or semantically.
