A little help here. I am in the navy and I am learning web design as part of my career. I am getting out in january and want to go to school full time, preferably during the day. Any suggestions? Is there a way I can work at home (like I heard, but we soon learn in the navy that what you here is almost never the truth). What should I know (other than the obvious html, dhtml, javascript) in order to get noticed, or just get something that will help me and my wife through school? I will have a year of experience on a secure web site when this is over, but I don't know how that translates to a civilian job, or if my job qualifications requirements in my service record will count for anything. Help? |

Web design sucks, most jobs have a huge list of requirements (XML, PHP, SSI, Javascript, EJB, etc...) makes me sick! But I think you would be smart to start with HTML, and Javascript like you said. you may want to look into a server side scripting language (you could use javascript for either ASP or JSP). And it wouldn't hurt to look into a little Photoshop training. |

So... Can a person do this work from home? What would that job title be called and how can you do it? |

Yep, html, javascript, css, photoshop, then think about building your own portfolio, at least when you are back in 'civvy street' you'll have something to show prospective clients/boss. |

get yourself a dozen headhunters lined up ready to hunt you down a job...It's really hard to do it all yourself. |

I do it at home. My clients come over, I get word of mouth advertising and I make a lot of calls and punding pavement. I look at local yuk Web sites and call offering services and...I am cheap! |
