The focus in informatics is beeing set on Artificial Life and intelligence. Informatics is one of the leading markets (although it recently had difficulties) and will keep on growing for a while, with new technologies. The choice offered to you appears like Passion & Aestethics VS technology in graphics. The "artist" against the "architect". I'd prefer being the architect, if only considering the financial aspect.
