I'm not sure it's that obvious. My unique users count is ridiculous (and only appears since february), but I got more than 40 browser sessions a day, and more than 3500 pages visited per day. That, at least, is 100% sure. I know that I, personally, am on Wapod 4 sessions a day, which makes less than 100 pages visited by me. I also know that my image files are cached on the client, and rarely refreshed, which means my "Hit" counter mostly reports hits to pages or dowloadable files (visible because the hit counter is close to the pages counter), anything but jpegs and gifs. I know a bunch of people from a bunch of countries (server stats report a variety of countries) look at Wapod, but my "unique users" count seems to be the only data that does not match the rest of the stats. Even more confusing, I know how much data (at least 10M a day) goes out of my site, I know my whole site structure and contents are less than 300ks, And that there only are a couple of huge extra PSD's to download. So what the fuck? All the docs I could read about this topic said "stats don't indicate the user count precisely, because they also take in account the specific aspects of your server, types of downloaded files and structure". In my head, there are an average of 200 persons that "glance" every day, and 40 who "stay a while". Why then that ridiculous "unique users" count (unique "users", not "visitors")?
