I've recently been trying to figure all the legalities of creating web sites for payment. Not that I have any big plans, but just in case some work come my way I want to be able to do it and know I don't break any laws. Today I called the local city office, asking about sales tax, and whether or not I need to collect that. The lady's answer was pretty unclear, to say the least. It seems to me though that web design is a service and not tangible goods, and therefore I need not collect any tax. Am I correct in this? At what point would I need to collect tax? If I deliver the web site on a CD? A logo design? Web Site on a CD business card? A print-out of a design? I've searched on-line and have not find any information about this. Thanks :)
