you would want to get a job as a programmer for a somewhat mid to large sized company
Yes. To talk a bit about my background: I spent two years in consulting, on a per mission basis, as a developper and trainer, for various technologies, mainly microsoft based, rdbms and coding languages. I gave courses to employees of companies such as IBM or PriceWaterhousecoopers, BAT, and other "big" customers including the Swiss confederation. The "per mission" situation was shitty, as it didn't allow me to get academic training, so in fear of stagnation, I quit and got hired by THE local ISP, the one now providing the fastest available connections in Switzerland. 1400 employees including myself. I worked there as .. many things: starting from a database administrator, the only "niche" that would allow me to adjust my schedule (90% time employment) and avoid too heavey responsibilites so I could focus on university by night, was tech support. But again, stagnation is lurking: what will I do in 4 years when, with my engineer degree, I'll have to justify 5-6 years as a tech support?` My current resume is only available in french atm, soon to be ready in english and italian as well. But that's not the point: such a "toy" as beyondwonderland has advantages: it shows some experience of programming, some experience of visual communication, of foreign languages. It "shows". Added to my only internet products so far, www.colombus.com and www.urbanet.ch , it "shows" that despite my current situation, I have managed to stay in shape for coding. It shows I care for compatibility, beyondwonderland being reliable on many platforms. This... and more arguments when the discussion finds more input. After all, www.ozones.com also acts as a "portfolio" for our good Doc: sure, many morons will get scared at such a fantasy, but what then? Do I want to work for those. [This message has been edited by InI (edited 03-27-2004).]
