Just posting the pics from this site for Bugs or other Christians who will be interested in seeing this movie next year.

Heard it was going to be very graphic and portray the passion like it really did happen according to visionaries.

This movie is going to be great! Sure, they're not using a Middle Eastern fellow as Jesus (as it should be), but it will still rock.

i found the language thing really odd at first myself, but as an artist hearing mel talk about using the power of the image to overcome that barrier really excites me. it'll be interesting either way...

Off the subject.
On passing the construction of your church, I see how mega huge its going to be. I wonder how many people will the main church hold. Do you know what other kind of facilities it will have and do you think it will draw some of Sagemont Church regulars.

heh, not MY church per se, but one i attend and am actively involved in is building a new building. tho that's an intriguing idea...

jade, its going to be pretty huge, seating 12,000 when the sanctuary is finished. there'll be a host of other facilities, a double-gym for the youth and another for basketball/sports as well as other classrooms and children's facilities. should be finished by christmas from what i understand.

Its impressive. I am sure it will be beautiful inside. I like that big steeple on top. Our church is having growing pains. Its small. The diocese is going to build a new one, but in no way as big as Grace Community Church.

On the Passion movie, looking at those pics I felt depressed.
My heart sank. As it is, I cannot stand to see bloody carnage in any movie. I avoid them. Seeing Jesus protrayed suffering that kind of agony will be hard to watch.

I was reading Jewish leaders are already fearing more anti-semitism when the movie comes out. And they are asking Mel to consider that.

Yes it does look rather interesting. Nothing like a very different movie, good to see it coming from Mel Gibson too. I reckon his a champ. Im predicting it will either be a major flop or sweep the Oscars off it's feet.

Jade, it may be hard to watch, but that's what really happened. Do you want a toned down version like virtually all the ones I've seen.

Don't worry, I'm sure it won't be too gratuitous.

I'm very excited about this movie. Even if Gibson caves and adds subtitles, I'm sure he'll have a director's cut that removes them. As far as I can tell, his goal is to make this movie as accurate a portrayal of the actual recorded events as possible. And anyone who has read the accounts knows that Roman crucifixion was designed to maximize the pain and suffering for the recipient. It would be the complete opposite of our death by lethal injection.

I saw an interview with Gibson lately where he said he has been met with some serious opposition to him making this film. Apparently there are a few groups who are not happy about it at all. I know there are a few Jewish groups that are very upset about it. But it seems there point is that you shouldn't portray an accurate historical event because some people might use the truth as an excuse for anti-semitism. But shouldn't we focus the scorn on the idiots rather than an accurate portrayal of history?
