MAN AM I PISSED OFF!!!

A few of you may remember i did some work for a glamour model agency for their AD Campaigns etc...
well it seems that they "thinking" they were doing me a favour passed out my hotmail address to a few people in the business in case they needed doing any work etc. Cool ya might think..

well somebody somewhere must have passed that email address onto somebody else who sent it/sold it to an erotic emailo list...

since then i have had tons of crap coming into my email address each day and no matter how many i unsubscribe my donated email address from they seem to appear from elsewhere....

BUT THAT ISNT WHAT REALLY PISSED ME OFF

TODAY was the icinbg on the fucking cake (apologies for swearing) i get a freaking email from a Pedo site offering me membership to their sick fucking little site, so i emailed HOTMAIL forwarding them the email along with all the headers etc, hoping that they would follow up on this, also i emailed the domain registration company who hosts this piece of shit in case they didnt know what the fuck was going on, so if anyone else ever gets an email from a company with the @paris.com domain name be aware that somewhere they have a little pedo site that they are happy to let ya join...SICK FUCKS!!!

i hope they nail these peoples ass to the wall.

I currently receive a lot of subtle German porn: 'Hi Stefan I just got back from holiday and have a few snaps of my trip so have a look' or 'Stefan please have a quick look at my site' (the kind of messages which you might mistake for a missent email or something) but the link takes you through to a German porn site. Nothing serious and once I'd managed to resist the tempation to be nosey not a problem.

Tom: I caution you against the further use of hotmail. Hotmail addresses tend to get spam - *just because they're hotmail addresses*. It's entirely possible that someone signed you up for a mailling list (whatever you do, don't unsubscribe; that's like sending an email to a porn site saying "hi this is an active email address"). But if you must get a new address, don't let it be hotmail.

They certainly are sickos!

I'm curious Tom, how do you know it was one of those people a client of yours passed your email account to that signed you up for this sort of trash? It certainly doesn't seem like something a normal human being would do! Is there a way you can check where they got your account from?

Personally I don't get any unwanted email. I keep three accounts, each for a different purpose. I use my account at mail.com for internet related stuff such as signing up for a forum. For friends and family I use my school account which I don't post in websites. For close friends and important matters I use one of the POP3's from my domain. Again I don't post that in forums or on the internet.

I'd have to agree with Slime. I think hotmail just gets spammed because it's hotmail. Sort of like AOL. I'm sure theres a million places you can register an email account with. I've never used Yahoo but I hear thats better then hotmail. I haven't had any trouble with mail.com either.

I do beleive that it all started when I signed up for AVG!! Could be wrong, they are sending them to me Yahoo! acount, so it doesn't really bother me.

Hotmail is POO!

I've never used my hotmail account to sent mail to anyone. Never given out the address and after only 3 months I get 10+ spam a day. Yup... I've never used it and I've already maxxed out my quota.

So how do so many people have my hotmail addy if I've NEVER used it? I've had other free-mail accounts at eudora mail and excite before and I've never had this problem. Maybe the database storing the hotmail addresses is really unsecure. Maybe hotmail itself it palming off the adresses for money?...

I also had my whatever.net.au account for about 3 years without a single peice of spam. Then I started going to University and decided to use that email address to get all my Uni-related mail sent to -- bad idea. Since then I've also had lots of spam problems un-related to the usualy uni-spam I get.... Grrr... Still, 3+ years for a Spam free mail addy is quite good compared to most I hear....

Yep, I call my hotmail account my spam accout. I have the filter set to high, though, so nothing gets through except those things directly addressed to me (a spam will get through once in a blue moon). I have my junk mail folder set for automatic deletion, although sometimes I have to check just to make sure nothing's getting thrown out that shouldn't be. I usually get about 40 or 50 spam mails a day in the junk mail folder.

tom: that is definitely sick stuff. I'm going to try not to think of that now or I'm going to lose my breakfast.

CPrompt: I, of course, don't wish to slander a company offering a free service but I'm pretty sure I signed up using my actual email address to AVG. However, I'm also sure there are many ways that they could have go a hold of it so there may not be a link there at all.
