OK thanks to Tao for letting me pick this this weeks topic
And the subject is WTF??
I rember those quiz type things where they'd show an extreme closeup of an object or a picture of it from a bizarre angle and you had to work out what it was. So thats what I want to see this week and we can even have fun guessing what it is . Also take a clearer photograph so we can all see you aren't just cheating by taking photos of crashed flying saucers
I wil post some examples in abit but I Googled for images matching the term "extreme closeups" and now need a lie down in a dark room.

Guidelines:
1. Photo needs to go along with the subject in some way.
2. Use thumbnails for photos with any dimension larger than 450 px or over 40 kb.
3. Post as many as you want.
4. At the end of the week the person who chose the topic (me) will pick someone to choose the next topic. This isn't a "winner," just someone who gets to suggest the next topic.
5. No critiques (unless requested) this is just to share our photos.
6. No sigs.

I'm going to get on this wtf action .. I've put together three photos for all to ponder what they are .. all three of gifs .. so you will see the very close up view of the photo and have 20 sec it will crossfade to the actually photo of what it is .. so those of you that wish to guess at what the close up photo is before it shows the full photo .. be aware of the 20 secs you have to view the photo before it reveals itself
Allrightee, nice shots there Rammstein, I like the concept also of the transitions.
A little more tweeking involved, but it's been a while since I have done any morphing so here goes.
This is the same grid image shape as above, (since I am unable to edit that post) but with a 30 sec delay morph to the original image, to give you some time to try and figure out WTF it is.
Unfortunately my Morphing technique insn't what it used to be, consequently the file size may be a little large ~ 800k

opps sry guys about my sig .. Emps can you edit my first post to reflect no sig rule
Emps .. nice initial guess on the second photo .. but nah .. as for photo 3 .. I just exploded the pic actually but yes I did a search for 'microscopic' pics on google images .. none the less thanks for the props
kromaZ .. NICE .. I would have never thought of what the actually thing was .. nice pic!! .. I was just thinking prison bars! .. lol
Right on Poi,! and that key comes all the way from Saze, France.
When I left my studio I always knew if I had my key with me or not,
it weighed a ton and big too!
kromaz: Great stuff - I'd have not guessed those!!

Sorry this is the first POW I've started and last time was the first one I entered a picture for but I thought the point was to take your own photos - is that right or have I misunderstood? I am tired so.....
kromaZ: I guessed "key" from the first pic, but poi beat me to the punch. I never would have guessed that the second pic came from a diving helmet. Nice shot.
OlssonE: I have absolutely no idea what that is, but then again I suppose you could blur just about anything and make it inscrutable.
Emps: Yeah, as far as I know, POW is for original works... I think Ramm might have gotten excited at the theme.
OK, here are my contributions for today (taken today, even), of varying difficulty. No fancy schmancy transitions here, but I will respond to guesses, and if some remain unguessed at the end of the week I will post larger (clearer) pics.
The second one will probably prove the most difficult, as most people would probably not be able to figure out what it is even with the full pic. So, I'm not sure if that's actually fair or not, but what the heck, right?
2. Talk about sick puppies... no, it is neither frog nor Suho spawn.
3. I believe this one may qualify as a winner! It's not Swiss cheese, but it is cheese. Bonus points to anyone who guesses the particular variety (hint: it is European).
By the way, great topic Emps. This is loads of fun.
[Edit: And since I'm having so much fun, here's another one. I can't help myself.
4.
This one is a tough one, too, but I tried to include a little hint in the pic. Not sure if it will make it easier or not.]

Quite impressive. It is not gouda, but it is another hard, ripened Dutch cheese: Edam. I thought of including a bit of the red wax in the original pic, but that probably would have been a dead giveaway.
I love me some good cheese.

4? It looks like so weird alien horror show - something fishy or squidy?
You're on the right track, but you'll have to be slightly more specific than that.
4. Fish gill? Looks like part of an eyball in the top right corner.
You are correct, sir! It's actually the gill of a semi-dried (i.e., in the process of drying) fish, and yes, that is part of an eyeball in the top right corner (that was the little hint). I was originally going to pick a more obscure part of the original photo (it's amazing how many nice textures there are on drying fish), which might have been more fun, but probably would have been really hard to guess.
In other news, I'll be leaving on a short trip tomorrow and will be back on Friday. Sorry to leave everyone hanging on 1. and 2., but I'll reply to any guesses and post the original pics when I return.
OK the week is up - I'll post a few things I was noodling with but was too busy to get sorted ina bit but in the meantime as kromaZ got in so quickly with such good examples they may as lead off the next one.
Suho, I say #2 is some sort of cake. Dare I guess.. raspberry? And #1 is a rock/crystal like "popcorn crystals" which I've gotten mail ordered when I was a young lad.
[edit] no sig..[/edit]
Sorry for not posting the full pics sooner... but at least it gave Bmud a chance to guess.
And some guess it was, at least for #2. Very impressive. It is indeed, some sort of cake. To be more specific, it is a layered rice cake, with bean flour between the layers. The red comes not from raspberries, but from red beans (adzuki in Japan, I think). Still, that was the best guess yet. Here's the full pic, with the area you see above outlined in orange:
Number one turned out to be harder than I thought it would, but in retrospect, I suppose it makes sense. I would have no idea what that was if I didn't already know. This may be a bit anticlimactic, but it is, in fact, the wall of my house. It is a stucco-type finish, except not prickly and pointy like stucco. I'm not exactly sure what it's called. Anyway, here's the original pic, again with the outline:
This was a great topic, Emps, and definitely one that can be resurrected in the future. Great fun!
Actually, they taste very good, if you like really chewy stuff (my wife says some of her foreign students don't like them beause they are too chewy). Basically it's steamed glutinous rice mashed together with beans and stuff. I don't know exactly how they are made.
Interesting note: rice cakes like these are called by the generic term ddeok in Korean, and this is what the original Biblical translators used to translate "bread," because most Koreans didn't know what bread was at the time, and ddeok was the closest thing in form they could find to Western bread. It's kind of funny to read about Jesus breaking the rice cakes and fishes, or handing out rice cakes and wine at the last supper. When we take communion in church, they call the bread ddeok even though it's actually bread. There is no native Korean word for bread (in Korean it's called bbang, which comes from the French pain).
Reminds me of the time my wife first saw ravioli and called them "Italian mandu (which is what we would call Korean ravioli, basically )."
