But isn't it amazing, no matter how bad someone's logic is, how incredibly misinformed he is, how obviously cuckoo he is in the head, that if he presents something as "evidence" or "proof" of creation, every believer in creation will follow him, defend him and fund him, no matter how bad a representative of their cause he is?
It's hard to come up with a parallel for this, but ... I believe the situation with pollution and global warming is a more serious threat than most people believe. But that doesn't mean I have to stick up for every goofball who says it's all being caused by too many shiny buildings or someone who smears himself with oil and hang glides over the city naked in protest. Though they may believe in the same basic idea I do, associating myself with these people only hurts my position.

I don't know if I personally would like to go see a pickled kitty, but I'm sure that many people will like the "museum" simply because it is odd. I think that this guy or organization or whatever is behind it is going to make a ton of money.
However, I think he may have luck in persuading some people to think as he does, since not all people think for themselves, but he is going to have a harder time with the more independant people.
The Creation vs. Evolution debate has been going on for what, 50, 60 years now? I think that it is probably going to keep going on for a long time. Not because one side is stupid or unreasonable, but because both Creationists who speak out against Darwinian rooted ideas and those who speak out against Creationism are both blinded by their own beliefs. Both are intelligent peoples, but both are so ignorant and pig headed that there isn't likely to be much of any progress made in reconciliation in the next 50 or 60 years unless they are able to listen to each other and respect each other first.
Then maybe there can be some peace on this battle field.

Except that Evolution is based on fact and is a Science and Creationism is based on Belief and is part of religion.
There is nothing to reconciliate on behalf of Evolution.
As Religion had to finally accept that the world was round hundreds of years later (officially), so too will it have to learn to accept Evolution.
Not to mention that Evolution has nothing to do with how everything began. It only explains (provides models for) how things have come to be like they are now.

You know what WS, for once I'm not arguing with you about facts. I now think that the Theory of Evolution, that everything evolves from one state to the next, is a fact. Scientific evidence is good at proving or at least providing a good case for that. However, I will argue with you about beliefs. I still believe in Creation. I just think that if Creationists and Evolutionists would work together and share their ideas more work could be accomplished.
I agree with Newton on the belief that science and God are inseperable. With science you see the awesome power and might of God.
I think that if the church had accepted Darwin's beliefs or at least agreed to discuss them with him instead of labeling him a heretic, things would have gone better for everyone involved.
Why can't people work together by respecting each other?
Just for curiosity sake WS, what is the label for the belief that life originated without God? I always thought of it as Evolution, but I know now that isn't true. Do you know the term for the origins of life debate? I hate to keep confusing people when I switch back and forth.
DL, I learned a lot more than you think.

Well, actually, there isn't one. Creationsists spend so much time throwing a fit over evolution that they neglect to see that they are trying to argue about entirely separate issues.

Yes, Wes started the thread. Perhaps you can work on figuring out what he actually meant in his latest post now

I know Wes started the thread. Thus, it is his fault.
Well Dl, I'm still a kid with only a high school education of logic, reasoning, and sophistication. Maybe a bit more than that, but not much. I have learned much from prior conversations and research I have done myself, but I still have a long way to go to really be able to fully grasp some of these arguments, but I'm trying my best.

Oh, my fault.
I was thinking of the topic, not the thread. Now it makes even more sense.

I guess that was a little delayed...
