Hello all. Got here from 3dbuzz.com via TechTV.

Looks like a hell of a place. The Photoshop pong looks fun, I may try that.

Wes - I joined The Herd today too.

Anyways, just wanted to say I've committed myself.

welcome Zo! Nice name.

Take a little tour around the halls as Veneficuz has suggested. Do it quick because soon they will show you to your cell (complete with your own set of crayons), get you a straight jacket, and then in time Suho will take you to the basement for shock treatment.
After that, well..... let's just say you won't be the same.

And yes, give the PSPong a go. I think I may pop in over there myself. Haven't done it in a while. Wanna do one? Feel free to email me.
spur of the moment things are great

Later,

I haven't posted here in a while, too busy doing really cool stuff like *mumble mumble*

Welcome aboard. Most people here are very weird, like some crazy (and cool) computer geeks. I am very normal though. I just come on here mostly to argue in the philosophy forum or just read interesting posts.

Don't listen to Yuri--there are no monsters here. And make sure to stop by the basement so I can fit you for a set of electrodes.

platyjim: Actually, we seem to be getting an abundance of simple hello posts these days. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, of course.

Thanks for the welcome. I love what you guys do here, and myself have been working with Photoshop since 98 but haven't really gotten into as much as I would like, just simple restorations, school work, etc...

Looking to learn a lot while here.

I'm also looking into Grad school for Virtual Reality. Should start in the Fall, hopefully.

But wouldn't that still be wrong? If you start counting at 0, that would be a count of 2, but you listed 3 types of people.

I went and asked Jeeves, but I'm still not sure:

01100101
10101110
01101000

Each one of the above sequences means something different. This is where the math comes in. Within the byte, each position is valued differently, unless it off in which case in is zero. A 0 bit is always equal to zero. Think of the eight bits as different positions. Just as explained above, when a 1 is in the ones position, it is equal to 1, when it is in the tens position, it is equal to 10.

Starting on the right, the positions have these values:

1st position equals 2 to the zero power (any number to the zero power equals 1)
2nd position equals 2 to the first power (2)
3rd position equals 2 to the second power (2 x 2 = 4)
4th position equals 2 to the third power (2 x 2 x 2 = 8)
5th position equals 2 to the fourth power (2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16)
6th position equals 2 to the fifth power (2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 32)
7th position equals 2 to the sixth power (2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 64)
8th position equals 2 to the seventh power (2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 128)

Therefore 00101111 = 47

Ok, got it.

0010 (10) is 2

binary 0 0 0 0
value 8 4 2 1

so
0011 = 3
0100 = 4
0101 = 5
0110 = 6
0111 = 7

got it?
