I was doeing some thinking yesterday, and realized why I am not as good with P Shop as I think I should be. I can make certain things, certain shapes, certain buttons, certain texts, but I don't know why they came out that way. I ave no clue how the lighting affected my art, no clue why changeing the values of things makes them different. I'm not real sure of what the different layer affects are. That's when I realized I kind of skipped the basics when I started, I just went on to the tuts, and made certain things, because I could do that. I didn't realize that anyone can follow a set of directions, but I skipped the basics!

That's where I need your help! I need to find some basic tuts on lighting, textures, layer styles, masks, values, tools...the works, I'm going all out here, and I'm not comin' back until I at least learned the basics.

I'll thank everyone in advance for there help, I know you guys are great

I heartly concur with Xdreamer.ch. Tha tutorials there are awesome. If you come across any specific problems (and you will) Just post up the query, with an image or a link to one, for example, and there will be a veritable stampede of suggestions of help.

To learn how the blending modes work, you can make a vertical gradient in background, and put a layer with an horizontal gradient and vary the blending mode and opacity.

I'll agree with most other people and say the Gurus Network is a great place to learn about photoshop but maybe not the best place to start

A superb resource for begginers is over at http://www.arraich.com It goes through everything in so much detail. There is a 'helluva' lot of information on this site. It's not so much tutorials as you asked for, i like to think of it more like a library you can refer back to if you ever get stuck or need help with something. Here are a few of the pages on this site that have been really helpful for me.

There is so much more to find on that site, those are just a few of my favourites...

Hope this helps
