Preserved Topic: Smoke?!? (Page 1 of 1)

Anyone know of a way to make good smoke/steam? I saw on site, (honestly not sure which( But it has steam shooting out of a pipe and it looked really good. I tried using the airbrush but it seems not to look quite the same. i wish I had the site address to give. But any help would be great. thank you.

I read a method where you could start with making the shape that the smoke will be coming from. Take that shape and fill it with white on another layer, then rotate it 90 degrees. Apply the wind filter several times. Rotate it back. Do a bit of a guassian blur. Then play with the distort tool in Liquify or use the smudge tool to tweak it. Pretty good results...What are you trying to make smoke come from?

No problem. I hope you find it useful...Just want to get one thing straight. You're asking how someone specific did the smoke on their site, but you don't know the site or who it is? Is that right?

Heh, i was browsing around the pixelcore webring a few nights back and came accross it. I liked it, tried to reproduce it , and when i went back to look at it again my computer locked up and I had to cold boot, therefore losing the page before i could book mark it or save my progress.. I vow to find it again. If not i will need another dose of the black pills, because I will go crazy.

Anywho, i was just wondering on how to make some realalistic smoke, (just to say i know how)

Hey there Poi, I was wondering how you got the steam effect on the bottom of you html page layout. The one that shoots out from the pipe. i tried using the airbrush but can't seem to get it right. Thanks.

I didn't create it with photoshop, instead I chose to use Illusion to do that.
With photoshop it would have taken more time to create it.
