Oh did I forget to mention that 'recycled sigs' will not be judged, how can I say? with the same bias ~slackers~

I think some people around here might want to make something animated. Here's a shortcut of doing so:



If you have a regular shape (like a star or a gear) you can easily animate it by flipping it 90º each time, for three frames. The star or gear has to have an odd amount of points, (or teeth if you use a gear) but any odd number (3,5,7,329) will do. I used this with the gear sig you can see 3 posts up. Another plus of this method is that you only need 4 frames for an animation.

Hi, I'm new, sort of (a lurker). Giving the contest a shot.

I'm impressed sal, that looks really cool. It would look so wicked if you animated it though. Just the tire spinning and the reflection stationary. Do it! Do it! I wanna see it.

Don't know if you guys here will like this, but I'll post it anyway because I spend a lot of time on it. (Photoshop is addicting, but you all know that allready I guess)

not bad eighdee but you lose marks for because everyone knows that extension lines arent supposed to touch object lines......thats just sloppy.

im an mechanical engineering student as well. do you use any CAD/CAM apps? whats yer preference?

oh.....and that's "Re-engineering the wheel", have a look, you'll see what i mean.

EG:
extension lines: didn't know that, my teachers didn't hammer on that. But i checked an autocad book and you're right.

respect goes to slime, for opening me media effects. yes, these are 3 hollow spheres.

Grumble; It's great! I don't have a clue how you did it, but I have one niggle: The two objects are really separated, at first I thought they were two separate gifs. Maybe color the balls orange too (a hue/saturation layer or something like that) since they don't seem to be connected in any way. I really hate to ask this but how did you do it?

well, yes, i'll make a version with the spheres only. i hate the right part too. i just wanted to add me name to it. then i did this. then there was so much empty space and so i added that other crap.

how did i do this? well, slime, showed me some tricks on media-effects in pov-ray. so i played around a little bit. and there i had three hollow spheres with these nice particles inside. well then: rendered an 11-frame animation @ 160x120 -> imported to imageready -> cut away background and the rest is obvious.

No, but thanks. I don't have POVray. I just couldn't think of a way to do it with PS.

yea, i guess you'd need some kind of mathematical approach...
btw povray is freeware at www.povray.org - just in case you didnt know.

i believe it could be done with photoshop using the numeric transform tools, but that would be some freaky math

This, I believe, is my 3rd animated sig. I only remember doing 2 others, and they both suck big time. Even though this is my 3rd, this is my 1rst animation with 3DS Max's help. Turned out to be only 15k, which surprised me a bit.

Ver sweet wrk War... not really original tho... Now if it was an orange three dimensional skull mounted on the inner cog spinnin around... that would totally rock!
