After checking the previous months' sig subjects, I had a few ideas. I was going to go with the "Age of Enlightenment" but figured that might be a little limiting. Scientific Instruments was my next choice but it might possibly be too similar (for some, lol) to last month's Torture topic so how about The Ancient World? |

One question: are we limited to western civilization (the whole Rome thing) or is that open? I originally wasn't going to enter this month (I mean, how do you top winning your first sig contest?), but the subject is sooooo tempting. Must... resist... |

Suho, you're definitely not limited to the west. There are so many amazing ancient civilizations, it would be a shame to focus on Rome only so go for it. Anything ancient - worldwide. |

Cool. Good choice. That leaves alot of open territory... |

The whole world? Crap, that's what I was afraid of. Now I'm going to have to enter. *sigh* |

Please give us (me) an example of something that happened around 3000 BC so that we can know what the earlier limit is. |

I don't think that it is wise to keep asking questions. The thing is to be creative. Take the given phrase and apply your own ideas to it. Take it for a spin. Don't disreguard the idea in its entirety, but use it as a starting block, and build on it. Use it simply for inspiration. |

I understand not everyone is into history so here's some brief info to help you out - I'd define the ancient world as anything between the Sumerian civilization (around 3500 BC) right through to the fall of the Roman empire (300- 400 AD). That's about 3500 -4000 years worth of material you can draw from. Famous civilizations from this time period include Greece, Rome, Egypt, Celts & Druids, Carthage, Aryans, etc... Structures include things like the Great Wall of China, Egyptian pyramids, Stonehenge. Many ideas via these links: |

so when you have a sig to display to vote on? do you just post with it? or is this discussion for the contest? |

When you have a sig for this contest you should post it in this thread. Please don't use your regular sigs here, as this thread can get really graphic-intensive. There is no voting for or against signatures, it is up to this month's judge (and last month's winner) Amerasu to decide about the winner for this month. (Who gets to start and judge the next competition.. and so on and so forth.) |
