Ultimate: Once you've uploaded the files and made sure you have a database run the instal.php file and that will prompt you to enter the MySQL details and it will do the rest of the work for you and then it will move the config file to the right place. Then when you start your forum it should all be setup and it will ask you to remove a couple of folders. Do that and you should have a working board. It is really straightforward. |

probably the dumbest question on the forum, but how do you create a MySQL database on the server? and how do you go about integrated more than one database into a MySQL database if that makes sense, I read that a MySQL database can contain many databases for different aspects of a site, all in the same file or whatever. This reply is relevant to this thread because I too have downloaded the same thing and I'm not sure about anything to do with MySQL which I think is probably the same problem as the thread starter is having. |

phpMyAdmin? how do I know if I've got that with my host and how do I access it? I have never used php before and wanted to try with my new host and so specified that my sponsorship deal sould include PHP and MySQL amongst a few other things to play with, trouble is I don't know how to play with them, also how do I go about testing PHP scripts on my own local machine? I have set up IIS for asp before in the past but have sinced ended that pursuit and moved to PHP instead, but to test PHP I need to Install stuff that all looks very confusing, what's the easiest option bar testing everything online? |
