Hey guys!

I'm working on this site for Maxifot, a Norwegian "photostore", and just wondering if you have any thoughts on the design I'm working on. You can find it here.

The menu doesn't work as I hoped in Opera, but works fine in Explorer. I don't have NS installed, so I haven't even checked there. Any comments?

Thanks!

Softhead: Nice colours and a good looking simple design (you can't go far wrong with those two!!) - just a few quick thoughts (tested only in Op6):

1. There appears to be some blank space above the title graphic in Op - I'd get rid of that.

2. The title graphic is pos. too high for 800x600 use - I thought I was on a splash screen for a minute!!

3. Make the Velkommen message text in a box rather than a graphic.

4. I don't really see the need for frames as it makes navigation more difficult and if you do make sure you have some way to stop people going directly to pages like this:
www.designdog.no/maxifoto/index_prprodukter.html

and then getting trapped.

Overall it looks great and works well I don't think you need the frames but it is your call in the end. Nice work.

Yea, nice and simple :-)

1. Will fix that.

2. I've been thinking about that too, and maybe I will make it a little smaller.

3. Hmm... I actually haven't thinked about that at all :-) Thanks... I probably should do that.

4. Yea, this has also been an issue for me, not sure if I should use iframes or not.. usually I only use iframes for personal sites, but this time I wanted to make the frame (the whole site) absolute.. I will discuss it with my partner and Maxifoto, then we probably figure out something.

Thanks Emps!

SH: I don't think IFRAMEs would solve any of the problems and would actually add more (inaccessibility to NS4.x for example). Its not clear why you are using frames - if it is because the graphic is quite large and you don't want to reload it with every new page then I wouldn't worry too much as it will cache. If (as you pos. indicate) it is to keep the page at a fixed height then go for overflow:auto - it won't work in NS4.x and Opera but that is only a smallish percentage of your audience (5-6% possibly) so it might not be a big deal (lets be honest most people wouldn't even notice). You could also go for something like the Doc's zscrollbar if you wanted. There are plenty of solutions to the problem.

Thanks emps!

I've been taking a small "easter break" on this on now, but will continue working on it next week. I will consider your comments, and probably try Docs scrollbar or something.
