Well, I never post in here.......so I figured what the hell, I'll throw my new play-bit out there.
This is just a little something I put together to have a place to put some of my older artwork online (unfortunately the bulk of my work has either been stolen or destroyed...so what I have left is mostly unfinished pieces and sketches...).
The functionality is very simple at the moment, and the design somewhat understated, so I'm not expecting 'oooohs' and 'aaaahs' or anything.
Just figured I'd get some feedback.
DL: I really like what you've done it looks great and works nicely. Not really got much else to add at this moment but I love what you did with the fieldset/legends - I've been trying to do something similar but the sheer number of divs and complex mucking around was breaking across the browsers - might be worth looking again at what I was playing with

Nicely done DL
I agree with Drac and Nimraw; nice, clean design and serves is purpose perfectly.

The colors - I hear ya mike, I was going for something....different than I generally end up doing, and was pleased with the combo.
As far as the artwork, just keep in mind that most of it was done when I was about 16 (the 2nd section is from my early 20's..the difference is pretty apparent), so some of it leans towards the cheesy side a bit. I'm still fond of them though... =)

I knew they wouldn'y exactly be the most popular, but....
=)
The base green I love. The purple and the pale green I knew was chancy, but really needed something different.
Cprompt - how old would you have thought? It's kind of funny, people who spend much time talking to me tend to think I'm older, but people who only see me think I'm about 19 still....
Emperor - I only got the idea for the fieldset/legend from your work
Mya - thanks =) The self portrait has some of the obvious teen angst things going (and is quite rough) but I am still happy with the overall(and it actually looks like me...heh). The goblin was basically a play with some new pens, making sure they all worked well I used to do a *lot* of work in that style.
Nimraw - The trees are some of my favorites as well. Used to have a ton more, mostly from the same two parks where those were done.
Ah well.
Now that I've made it public, I guess I'll have to get new work done to up there.

Me. I think it work really well - the white on the pale gree pulls the eye to the thumbnails and then you spot the purple and ready the title. I would like the eye drawn to the box with the links in it as it isn't at the moment (more purple perhaps?).

Damn - it was right under my nose all the time. I suppose it was just waiting for someone with talent to take the idea and run with it

Well DL, I would have thought actually you were in your mid to late 30's. Now, I am getting this on my own from your:
quote:sketches from high school (1989-91 or so...).
Figuring that you graduated at 18 in 1991, that would make you around 29. I would have guessed 35-38.
Anyway. . .
I should have said that when I was looking at the page, it was on a piece of shit laptop and the colors looked really bad. I should have known better, stupid me
The purple I like. The green is not *bad* (as green is my fav color) but I would think a different shade. I don't know, just me.
The "watery" effect is just great. I love it. Typography on the "logo" and the layout of it (how it is spaced, what is that kerning?) is nice.
Well, that's it. I like the art by the way. I guess that I should have thrown that in there. You can certainly see the difference between the two.
So, tell us sometime about how your art got stollen.
Graduated in 92 at 17. Turned 28 last saturday. Weee.
I was hoping someone would mention the 'liquid' as that was my favorite part of making this
Artwork stolen? Well...mostly due to the fact that in the general time after highschool the apartment I lived in with a couple of friends quickly became *the* place to come party if you weren't a rich shit head or a dumb jock (and even they came from time to time...just didn't tell their friends afterward ).
So....pieces had a way of disappearing one by one when someone thought they were 'cool'.
Many I gave away too. A couple I even *sold*. heh.
nice to see some of your work, DL, thanks for sharing.
the colours are lovely - subtle enough to let the pics take the focus.
nav is tidy. popup-lessness is a welcome change, but leaves us with a fair bit of scrollyness... they are some very tall pages you got there.
my main fault picking is the way the text wraps on the top icons, when you shrink the page width - ask if you don't get what i mean. (this is no biggie, you would rarely have yer window that small if you wanted to actually look at the sketches.
Actually, DL, I really like the colors. Might have something to do with purple being my favorite color, but the purple and green just go really well together.
I really admire people who can draw/sketch well. I can barely even draw a straight line...
Oh, and happy birthday!
(I've got to agree with CPrompt--I thought you were older, too)
I 'sold' a piece in high school, "psycho-delic Churchill" it was. I just never got *paid*. Imagine that, a full grown adult buying art from a kid and stiffin him heh
I loved that stuff man, it was good goin through it. The php was neat as well. Lennon is my fav I reckon.
Reitsma - yeah, I see what you mean. I just added those icons, due to Emperor's suggestion of making the links more apparent. at 800x600 they're fine, but 640 they break. Easy to fix...thanks for spotting it.
Oh, and yeah...I was sick of seeing pop-ups too. I have a nice little javascript I put together that does some neat things with a pop-up, but wanted to avoid it for this. Long pages seem ok to me =) And keeps the simplicity a bit better...
