Topic: new business site

Hello,

I have this site that I would be interested in getting some feedback on.
It's been on-line for some time now, but it's not really "active"
yet, since it has not been picked up by search engines, and I have
not marketed it.

It is a site that are selling web site designs for weddings. I don't
really have any high expectation of this becoming a big success,
since there are lots of other sites out there offering the same thing, and
I am not sure if there is really much of a market for this sort of thing,
but I thought I could at least have a try.

Zox: I'm not going to say anything about the page itself other than I think it looks pretty good. *BUT*... you gotta do something about that NAME!!! I mean just say it. "The Happy Pair." I immediately see a fruit packing a flame-thrower, (but that's because I've been hanging out here too long. <lol> ) How about an ample bosoom passing by, Hmmm there's a happy pair. Testies swinging freely in a pair of boxer shorts or under a kilt.
Gotta change that name man!!

Why not try and refine the concept and come up with a product you can sell at the "corporate" level.
I can see this being integrated with already existing matrimonial services offered by the likes of Sears and the Bay (canada) and I presume many others.

One of our nephews was married this past summer and quite some time before, his parents had registered the 'wedding' at a major department store... anyone could go online make a credit card purchase... see what 'others' had purchased in the way of wedding gifts, avoid duplicates and all that. So why not *your* idea as an additional service? Everything virtually template driven (custom work also available) The dept. store, I'll use Sears as an example (but I could see this burning through the roof at Walmart) hosts the individual sites on its existing servers. Either sell the package outright... or with a service contract. I mean Sears and other places already offer just about everything else 'wedding' why not a website?
I don't think this would be a tough sell at all. The tough part would be finding your way through the corporate maze to the eyes and ears that make decisions. Anyway.... you probably think I'm a bit whacky... but that's ok...cuz this is after all an Asylum! <lol>[/edit]

I must have a more innocent mind than you do Because I never ever made those associations to the name. I never thought it was a great name, but I just thought it was a bit lame.
Granted, it was not my first choice, probably not even on my top 50 of choices, but of course most good domains are already taken.
Anyone else agrees with NoJive about the name? Maybe I need to change it... English is not my first language, so I certainly do not get all the subtleties.

Offering it at a more corporate level, as you suggested, does sound like a good idea. Maybe not on the level you mention, but something more locally.

As for the name and use of 'pair.' The only usage that comes to mind is the phrase: "They make a fine pair."
And *most usually* it is not a compliment.

"Couple" might be more appropriate.

As for selling the product.... I'd say go for it. But be smart about it. You may not have any interest in the business side of things which means you should at the very least contact a lawyer and not just any lawyer you want to talk to a lawyer who specialises in corporate/business law. Most lawyers will give you a half an hour or more 'free' consultation. Go in with a long list of questions. Write down the answers. Go home and make some decsions. One decision might be to put a lawyer on a retainer. Just remember that if you approach any company of size and they like your idea and want to buy it... *their* lawyer/s will be the ones you're dealing with so you'd best have someone competent on *your* side. As I said... I don't think it would that hard of a sell. Just make sure the package is a bullet proof as possible. After the "Happy Pairs'" website has been hosted on the retailers server for say 6 months or a year... they have the option of porting it over to say Runningwolfe <bg> or letting it vanish into the ethers. Give it some serious thought ZOX... I think you've got something there. Just be smart about it.

Zox as usual ya colours etc are really nicely balanced and compliment each other, I think that the feedback here tells ya what ya wanted to know about the site. Its good I really liked it, when it comes down to choices of names and not the content,concept and design, then ya know ya got a winner..
