hello everybody...
let's keep it short: I just signed up to this forum! I have been visiting it like every day since... well, who knows
but enough blabla, you have probably better things to do then reading this crap

Sailing-Team website
just got the design working on this site, had some minor (or major :/ ) problems with float...

a friend of mine wants me to build a page for him, which introduces his swiss sailing team. the site is strictly xhtml compliant, all the layout is done in css... and YES this IS a preliminary version, so please don't be cruel with your judgement!

I would appreciate any feedback, even if you say: "stop your web design attempts, go home, hang yourself in the bathroom..."

greets,
schwed

We have done so.

I agree.

What's there is good - simple, clean, smooth, easy on the eyes.

But it needs something to break up the monotony. The eye has no reason to really go anywhere.

I would also suggest some sort of logo - something that is visually stronger than the textual header. Play around with borders and the like for various parts of the page, add a little more color here and there.

Just needs more "umph".

thanks so far DL & InI...

well, as I said it's a preliminary version, there's really nothing ready yet (er, probably should have posted this in the xhtml section)

I'll keep working on it...

Hi,

I am not really an authority about web design, i looked at your site,
it looks fine i think, but i did not like your banner's dashed underline
it looks like something incomplete

just a comment

For the record, the dashed border is also one of the elements I do like. It fits.

I agree, the dashed border reminded me of the sticthing in sails (i've done a bit of sailing in my time).

Appart fomr what's already been said I only have a few comments.

The menu links could use a little more padding around them, as could the main site title; the whole header section is feeling a little cramped to me.

The indenting of elements for the news section also seems a little overdone (I'm not sayi you should remove the indenting, just don't indent quite as much as you currently are), same goes for the links section and the links themselves could probably benifit from some added line spacing to make it look less congested.

Nice work.

Also, there really is very little need to alter the list icon if your intenting. Keeping them all disc's and going from dark blue to light blue as you indent would probably work better as the indenting does a good enough job of visually seperating the different levels.
