Hi everyone,

I am a musician mainly, but I got into web design to make a website for my music. I have been fiddling with my website www.secret-beach.com for a long time, but I'm by no means a website guru. I know that there are things on the site that should be updated/changed/rewritten. I have been visiting the Ozone Asylum for some time now and I really enjoy the community feeling here, and talking with all of the talented people here who are willing to help.

Notes about the site: One artistic decision that I want to stay with is that I want to have a different background image on almost every page. These are all pictures taken at a beach, or nearby one. The idea is that I want to take the visitor to the actual "Secret Beach" when they look around the website.

Im also wondering if the site seems easy to navigate around? Im planning on taking the "reviews" page and moving it under an "online press room" page. I also wanted to add a page that lists the different record stores that my CD is in, but Im not sure where to put that exactly. I may want to update the bulletin board, but then again, I cant seem to generate many posts there (any suggestions?)

Ive tried making the pages more liquid, but due to the background image issue, I think that "Jello" is the closest I can come - which is fine. I intend to add a javascript to some pages to detect screen size and then dish off different sized bg images. (in general the site should look allright at the 1024 or the 800x600 screen resolutions.)

anyhow - I wont ramble any more...

thank you in advance you your feedback,

Eric001

I like the rings on the splash page. Nice effect. I would put a logo or something on the main page though. I want to watch this one grow. As I always try to do with mine. Only problem is I have to work long hours. Oh what fun this is. LOLOL. I've had wayyyyyyyyyyy too much coffee.

Think I remember this one from a while back at the GN. Anywho...

Splash page: *sighhhh*... seriously people, you don't need one.

Don't be silly, your site looks fine in other browsers. This disclaimer does nothing but show that the designer of the site is too lazy to test in other browsers and/or doesn't care.

No can do. You shouldn't be popping things up, anyways. I like the window I'm currently using just fine.

I still don't understand the obsession with splash pages. Seriously, if I hit a site with a splash page, I back out. It's just the way I'm wired. But since you're requesting a review...

Doctype: Get one.

Encoding: Got one. Good for you.

Background: Try darkening the image so that the dark area is true black. That way it blends in with the background, instead of sticking out like a sore thumb. Play around with brightness/contrast until you get it looking good.

Frames: I don't like them. They remind me of the 20th Century (*shudder*). When designing a site, ask yourself "Is this really necessary?" If not, get rid of it.

Horizontal rules: I don't like them either. I suppose it's a matter of taste though...

Hmm, that's it for now, I've got to go. Keep your code clean! (Oh wait, you're using FP, aren't you?... )
