Topic: Best Place to start: Layout

Hello, long time know talk eh? Well im back and am starting a full ongoing process to produce the best site i can. starting today i am beginning the transformation of my site, www.endingchaos.com in to Lonestar Metal. This new site's goal is to provide local bands in my area a place to get their word out and let people know where they will be playing.

The logo is only a prelim and will probably change but take a look at this layout pattern and tell me if you think the way paticular things are laid out is a wise choice.

Your jpeg is 614x461. Keep in mind that 800x600 resolutions resolve to 760x420 when maximized. You have at least that much space to play with.

That being said, you've got a three-column layout with a grey background. I wish I could say more...but you've not given us anything with which to work. I'd suggest throwing in some dummy text in each of those areas to show us (1) how the text is going to fill the pages, in terms of spacing and margins, and (2) what sort of typographical work you're going to do, including at least headers and body content.

As far as general thoughts... umm... Your navigation area is very slender, so you'll not be fitting much content there, where your "hosting options" takes up twice as much real estate. <shrug>

just to let you know that the picture is shrunk down to make it easier to load and fit on the window. I will try and get the layout in qaction by the end of saturday, not much time to do it till i get homework done first.
