I can't seem to find info about how to (or if) I can set these via style info.

I don't think you can. Technically, column and row spanning isn't stylistic information; rather, it's fundamental to the structure of the page. Markup is to structure as CSS is to style, so markup (HTML itself) is where this would be specified.

So I'd look to see if there's a property of the element itself that you can set with Javascript.
