Hi, guys. I am ashamed to ask...but I cannot find something like font-family chart.

Well, you know this is good:

quote:
body {
font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
}

not like

quote:
body {
font-family: verdana;
}

I have been looking for font-chart to get relatinal font easily. Do you know what I mean? For example, I have no idea what font goes on well with courier.

Please help me! I serched in Google something like "font chart" but have not got anything so far.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers,

Basically, I always try to follow these rules ...

the first is your own preference if the browser can find it
the second is a standard font of the same type, typically found on the majority of boxes
the third is the generic family, just in case there's nothing else.

A list of the core fonts supplied by Micro$oft can be found at this location and a very simple explanation of font families can be found here.

My advice ... stick to
for newspaper type characters - Derivatives of times roman, garamond etc. and end your list with serif
for modern (like on this forum) - Derivatives of verdana, arial, helvetica, and end your list with sans-serif
for non-proportional spacing - Derivatives of courier, terminal etc. and end your list with monospace

code:
these are non-proportional or monospace characters

in fact, if you don't really care which family member (i.e. which SPECIFIC font) your browsers use - beyond making sure they fit in with a general theme - you can just use the family generic names serif or sans-serif or monospace and let the browser at the other end determine which actual font it uses, it will work.

... erm ... I think ....

My general rule of thumb (as shown in your first quote and pretty much like Trib's) is to provide my prefered Windows font, a more widely available alternative, the Mac equivalent and then the default one. Hope that helps.

Your computer at school is right next to the heater? And who was the genius who came up with that arrangement?

Well, preferrably not to close to your computer case.

If it's a small, portable heater, though, you probably shouldn't have too many problems with it. I was thinking more along the lines of a large radiator (I'm pretty sure that's what you call them) along the wall....
