I have tried setting width and height css attributes of input fields but they still behave differently from browser to browser. I need a way to make the form field look like a form field but at a specific size that is exactly the same accross all current prominent browsers (opera 6/7, netscape 6+, ie pc 5+, ie mac 5+ - you get the idea)

How can this be achieved? the character width html attribute of the input field is too unprecise and doesn't reach the exact size i need.

Please help, any tips on controlling the form input field would be great.

Thanks

it's not possible that I'm aware of without using Flash, each browser interprets form elements in it's own way. But I find the new browsers are near as bad as NS4.7 and IE5 days, you can get pretty darned close.

The biggest difference I've found (than AND now) is the inherent padding/margins of the elements in different browsers, if you set those to 0 right off the bat and use the "size" in the element or cols/rows whatever, then you'll be able to do okayish in new browsers I think

pixel precision tho, that's a job for a Flash form
