Hello,
Is there a way you get a flash file to pull in blocks of text and display it in a certain way?
That way you can change the text and don't have to change the Flash file. Also, if you can do that with text, can you also do it with pictures? like jpegs and stuff?

Any help would be appreciated
thanks...

Flash 4 is not capable of having outside text files be imported into it without changing the whole thing.
Flash 5 on the other hand is highly capable of it. Go here.

Cool...thanks
Does the person viewing the page have to have Flash 5 plugin to view it though?

I'm assuming you are asking this so that you can have both an html version and a Flash version of a site.
Well... I don't see how it'd be much more of a hassel to just update both.... however....
'work smarter... not harder' right?

I suppose if you pointed both the Flash and the html to the same file though.... it shouldn't be a problem.... I don't know for sure.
But I would say no to your exact question. I don't think that if you ony had teh text set up for Flash, that it would be viewable to a visitor because they would have to have access to the Flash for the scripting to work....

~not real sure though..... try it out.... tell us what happens...

Cool...I think I understand.
I just wanted to know if people with Flash 4 or lower can view the page. I'm doing a page for someone else, and so it'll be easier for him to update by just editing a text file...doesn't need to have or know flash. I could probably use a <noembed> thingy for people without the plugin....
Thanks again
