Ok I'm a rook in this area so I need alitle help here. I made something in Flash that has sound in it so I saved it as a .swf file so I could upload it to a web page. Well I can't get the background to fit in my browser right so I went to import it to Dreamweaver hoping I could solve the prob there. Is the only way to import the file is to go to Insert>Media>Flash? Basically I want to black background to fit to the browser....any way possible. Any suggestions? Thank's!

Arr... What? I can't quite understand what your saying.. It would help (as always) if you could show us what you currently have cause I just going of what you said here so I may be wrong.

In Dreamweaver select the swf (just click on it) then go to the properties panel and make sure it's been expanded (double click on it, if it get small, double click again simple) try changing the height and width to 100%, 100%.

Or, open it in a non WYSIWUG editor (notepad!) and look for the EMBED and OBJECT tags and set the width and height's of these tags to 100%.

That should solve your problem...

If not show me what you've got and I'll try again

Edit: oops! I thought HTML switched off in this ubb... my bad....

I second Dracusis's comments. I'm confused about the problem too. Show and tell. Upload the page, give us the URL and maybe that will clear things up.

One thought - if both your Flash movie and your HTML page are defined with a black background, the Flash movie ought to appear to fill the browser page (assuming it's smaller than the page). If you center the movie, it should be in the middle of just about any sized browser window, and if the page is the the same color as the movie background it should look cool.

sound when no buttons are pushed or moused over = bad
annoying sounds = bad
both of those together = very bad
very bad = the sort of things not to do
the sort of things not to do = what you did
what you did = almost give me a heart attack
almost give me a heart attack = bad

...well.. something like that..... you get the idea.

Yeah - he had published it as an animated gif previously so he could post it here.

I'm not sure I understand the issue. On my monitor, it's too tall to fit the window, but not wide enough. The issue is the white left and right? I'd stay with my suggestion to define the html page as black. Then it won't show if it's not exactly the right size. But I don't think I'd try to use Dreamweaver to manipulate the Flash movie size. You might get some distortion. I think you're better off resizing it in Flash. 'Course that'll mess up the button interface you did in Photoshop ....

Always something.

Steve your reading my mind now brother! So I screwed up to begin w/, right? That what I see on my browser also. So what would your opion be as far as starting from scratch? What should be the size of the image/page, what ever it's refered as? In Flash and in Photoshop? Go by pixel's, %, inches?

Steve remeber you said a good start would be to do a screen shot and paste it in PS and then crop it to the browser size? Well I did that, it was like 799pix by 488pix. So I don't know if that is right..cause usually images are best viewed at 800 x 600 pixel, right? I'm kinda confused on that one. Thanks
Edit: Try smaller size on sig

Chad: I'd go by your own results, minus a little for safety. That 800x600 is pretty arbitrary to begin with, and does not account for all the browser junk at the top and bottom of the window - the navigation buttons and the status bar that are part of your browser's interface (not the stuff that you build into your own navigation system). So 800x600 is misleading.

If you got 799pix by 488pix from your own situation, I'd try your next Flash movie at no bigger than 750 px wide by 475 px high and see how that feels. Also - if all you need out of html is the "container" to hold the Flash movie, you don't even need DreamWeaver. Set up the publish options in Flash to save the swf *and* html, and when you choose "Publish", Flash will generate the html, setting the background to be the same as your Flash background. Automatically! It will specify the same background color as the background you have selected for the Flash movie, so if your browser window is bigger than the Flash movie, the color matches. I will sometimes go into the html and add center tags to move the movie away from the top left corner, but otherwise it's pretty painless.

Go get 'em. I like persistant people.
