Just a little toy I made based off of something Steve did.

A little question, when you click the reset button, what could I do to remove all the movie clips from the stage when it starts over?

Thats what that last question in my initial post is about. How to clear off the stage when you click the reset button...

Steve?

uh, sorry.

i assume these things are symbols. doesnt it work, just to remove/delete all these symbols?
another way would be, to write a quick function that over-paints the whole area with the same blue again?
but that isn't very elegant.

sorry, it's been a long time since i played with flash.

The hard way:

I assume you are using a dulpicate movie thingie here; that requires giving each duplicated instance a name, probably generated with a counter variable, sorta like i+=1

so you can loop the same sort of thing in reverse - remove movie clip i-=1 until i is zero. This can be slow if you have a lot of objects. This toy does it that way, and I sorta like the "unwinding" effect, but it is slow.

Sneaky easy way is to have a frame to back up to. First fame has a stop(); in it. Enter your variables, click "go", it advances a frame and the duplicate script kicks in. Click "reset" and it goes to and stops at frame 1, effectively clearing everything.

At least - is should.

That's how I cleared the stage of one name before another began on our company's on-line holiday card.

Once again you have proved you are the man.

My server is down at the moment (seems to be the norm today, LiveJournal was down earlier and I noticed that fayfoto was down as well) but when it comes back online I'll upload the new one!

Thanks again

(edit) OK, you can look now.
