hi there

i made my new sitedesign yesterday ready. so I decided
to implement a small soundthingie with flash.
thats also done...

so now my problem. the user can select sound 'on' or 'of'.
If he choosed on, the sound is a small loop of a short
track.
so if the sound is streaming and the user wants to navigate
the sound begins to play from the begining.

anybody gots a clue about this?

thanks

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.
Don't follow his example - seek real life help first.

the problem is that the file still restart as soon as
the user want to go to another section of the page...

I want that the sound still runs.

if you want the music really seamlessly, there is no other way than to play the swf with the sound somewhere on a page that is not changed. -> an invisible frame.

if that is no solution, you could pass a variable to the next page (using php for example) which indicates the position in the track. but this is rather complicated.

so it seems that i leave the sound thinggie on my
page.
its just too complicated for me to realize :-/

first way was the idea from grumble, but I don't
know very much about php/flash...the second
one was to make a complete site in flash but that
isn't that what i would...

so...

how exactly do you mean that? the sound
in an invisible frame? how should that
work?

well, just make a frameset with two frames:

one is height=0 and width=0 and the other one has height=100% and height=100%. then in the 0-frame load a simple html site with your flashsound and in the other the normal page.

hi grumble

that doesn't work by my layout. I doesn't use
frames.
the flash is between the whole design so it is
difficult to load that file in a separate frame...

but thanks for the idea

It has been some time since I used flash...I am just getting back in..but I would recomend two things...First.. create a separate swf with the sound in it (here is where you can control the length, compression, etc.) Then in the swf with your interface...load the swf in a separate movie clip. This clip should be placed on the main timeline of the interface. Through this method you can stream the music while maintaining its independence of the users navigation choices.

Second, if you are not familiar with loading and removing movie clips and swfs into your flash sites you would be better off learning this technique. It allows you to easily control navigation and downloading without having to reload the entire page.

hope this helps
