You might wanna check out 3dluvr, they run a monthly competition for good people (way above me) but the cool thing is that the winners post articles on how they made their mega good scene, which is reaally useful. http://www.3dluvr.com

Splutterfish are the people behind the brazil plugin which allows Global Illumination, check the website out and get brazil. its well good.

Dv garage run generic 3d photorealism tutorials every day, they're pretty helpfull although they do tend to plug their product a fair amount.
