I've been hearing about quite a few problems with 3DS Max on XP. One guy can't even open his Material Editor. Looks like you are using XP to me (but I could be wrong), so that might be the problem.

Patches and drivers.

well...if that is XP, then you'll need to get the max 4.2 upgrade, which should fix most of your XP conflicts, if it isn't...reinstall max.

About getting that upgrade from discreet. It is free, but you need to actually OWN max, cause they ask you for your registration number, or something like it. I gave mine!

yah I am running it on XP. I have downloaded the 4.2 update, installed it and still I get that problem. I have another computer with XP also and I did same setup and it still give same effect so I am going to try on my 3rd one with Windows ME, if it works on that, I know XP is the problem.

XP usually ends up being the problem...I know it's a problem for me. I onw alot of old games that wokrd greatu nder ME, but as soon as we upgraded to XP, it just won't run. It won't even come up with an error message as to why it won't do it...the screen just goes from my desktop, to black, and back to my desktop again.
