The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

i remember a year back or so DAS had a thread about his sig.

October of 2000, according to the date on the working file.

Here's the 'how I did it' image:

Numbering the explanation images as
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8

1 - Adobe Illustrator backdrop
2 - Photoshop dropshadow
3 - Pure color letters
4 - Inside specular (3DS Max)
5 - Refracted backdrop (3DS Max)
6 - Inside reflection map (3DS Max)
7 - Outside specular (3DS Max)
8 - Outside reflection map (3DS Max)

All composited in Photoshop, with various layer settings. One cool thing about the technique is that the glass color is totally determined by the solid fill on layer 3. Do a flood fill of the 'a' shape with green, and you get a green glass letter. All the highlights, etc. are on other layers.

I tried colored shadows, but they didn't look right (the yellow one looked so faint it threw off the image).

As far as what programs I use:
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe After Effects
Adobe Premiere
3D Studio Max (w/ Mental Ray, and sometimes Brazil)
LightWave
Vue D'Esprit
Poser
Bryce
Rhino
Lots of other stuff

I'm what they call an 'affluent amateur'. Never finish anything big, I just play around when I'm in the mood.

I'll probably get either SoftImage XSI or Maya next. They're both very pricy, though, so I'm going to have to set aside money for a while.
