I am iterested in developing video games. I have a good artistic skills but dont know from where to start cuz I am only 16. I would like to find out about some good schools in states and any other type of info that my be usefull for becoming game artist and animator. Also another question if its worth to work as a game artist, do they get paid enought to make a good living? |

Hi Ruski, well what a question. to be successful in the games industry you're gonna have to learn and learn well to use a good 3D program. Studio max is proberbly the one for the games world but comes with a heafty price tag of several grand. Then theres maya of course which is more used in animated movies and is even more expensive but at least you can get a free learning edition of maya so you can learn the ins and outs of 3D design and animation. poser would be good too for composing figures and renderman which goes with studio max. |

well, in game development you need programmers as well as 3d artists but mainly programmers (C, OpenGL, Direct3D, Assembler, ...). since you are posting here, i think you might wanna go in the 3d direction. |

post over at MaxForum http://www.maxforums.org/ most of those people are into the game thing. I like that forum but its hard for this architect guy to fit in. A word to the wise... that forum is much harsher than this one so ask nice and brush off all the flames. |
