You can learn the basics of almost any program buy using the online manual and tutorials found on the net. I just wanted a book that would take me further so I chose that one. The other one is directed toward character animation and that fits me perfectly. I and a friend is going to do a movie in max. There will be two characters that we have created seperatly and a landscape which we will do together. The magic book is covering the water that i'm going to use and the mastering book will be covering the characters animation. Keep the book reviews coming! /Erik

I have MAX 4 magic, and its really only a book you want to get if you are familiar with MAX and know where to find just about anything.

I just wanted a book that would take me further so I chose that one.
