Topic awaiting preservation: First Animation (27 meg)

For some reason I couldn't get any compression. So I turned it into a huge animated gif. This is my very first attempt with animation. The scene was created with Blender, and then I exported the images, and put the into the animated gif with blender. The surprising thing is that it is only 3 or 4 seconds long... 100 frames. I the main reason is that imagemagic doesn't support LWZ compression since it costs money to implement, licensing bullshit and such. Sorry it is so big.

If you have blender installed it might be a better idea just to download the blend and run it that way, it would save you the 27 meg worth of download for a 3 to 4 second clip.

Well your first animation is really nice Warmage. The download was worth the time ! A bit long, but I waited. And Opera didn't liked it because the document area bugged !

I imported it into Adobe Premiere and compressed/exported it as a divX movie. Maybe I should call more attention to it so Moon Shadow doesn't do that again

I am working on an introduction tutorial on blender, I have just started off with page one, which is an introduction to the program. I am then going to work into creating a basic scene of simple objects, then teach a little about materials and texturing. And then end it off with a bit of an into to simple animation.

Does anyone have any ideas on this? What should I aim at teaching? It is easy to cover how to use a 3D program. Which I can do. But I am wondering what type of theory I might do some research on to make the tutorial have some more meaning than simply teaching a program.

Warmage, PLEASE, next time consider using DivX. Go to www.vitualdub.org and you can import a nasty huge avi file, and use divx5 to compress video and mp3 to compress audio. There are tutorials, and it hasa built in coach that's much better than annoying help bubbles.

Gif is okay, but in the world of production, I will tell you flat out that you need to step up.

Mencoder that is packaged with Mplayer is the way to go. I was able to cut a 24 meg file down to a 200 K file.

I want to thank everyone for there input and assistance here. It is really making my transition into 3d pretty nice.
