I've had to teach myself a bunch of different languages, but mostly they all just fill me with frustration. Great possibilities, but also, frustration. (Javascript is a great example of this! :-) PHP was the first language I can recall where I got REALLY EXCITED!!! Damn, it was so easy to do things I *know* are really difficult, having dealt with similar issues before in other server-side languages. Sweet! You're in for a fun ride, no doubt. Enjoy! |

I've been playing in PHP for 9 days now. When I started I was told by a friend that the hardest part of PHP is understanding that its not really that hard to learn... its hard to wrap your mind around the fact its not that complicated. |

Yes, I've felt that several times I *love* PHP and wait until you start integrating that with a database... yummy!!! |

It's a great springboard to more powerful languages too because it let's you ease into the syntax of Perl, Java, C, C++ and others without forcing you to understand the hardcore programming concepts that are often confusing at first. |
