What is the best sort of programming for handling credit card ordering online? I would like to know because I am working on a joint project with a consulting company that involves making an e-commerce store. Any suggestions?

There's lot's of ways, but usually this will depend on the clients bank. To do this they will have to set up an Internet Merchant account with the bank who usually has a set credit card processor. The credit card processor will usually have a set of tools for implementing the card charge and validation process.

There are ways around this using processors like paypal or a yahoo store type deal, it really depends on how much you want to put into it.
