Topic awaiting preservation: Accepting Credit Cards (Page 1 of 1)

Does anyone know much about what has to be done to a site for it to be able to accept credit card details safely ? I heard there is only a company or two that handle such stuff and they charge comission on any sales.

Any help or links would be greatly appreciated. (I'll give ya a months worth of black pills).

Just so you know I do have an understand of most things server sided, so you wont have to dumb everythign down (much)
