The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

I just recently networked my 2 computers, with a shared cable connection.

Very nice...especially when you have to share the computer with your girlfriend

hmm...for my private lan I alway use non dhcp because I can
remember which computer get which ip. so its a lot easier to
analyze problems on a network error....ev. it's just me

even I used the most time hardware router which I configure
as gateway for all machines :-D

8 machines at home here. Full DNS, DHCP, Active Directory. Also have NetWare and Linux in the mix, along with Exchange, SQL, ISA, WLAN, etc.

A mix of DHCP and fixed IP here. The six PCs are all DHCP but the JetDirects (two LaserJets with internals and an external for an inket and a dot-matrix) are fixed IP. Every "guest" PC that's come into the house has been DHCP which makes everything easy since I don't have to remember to change anything when I return them to my clients.

My roommate is an electrician, so we have two drops fished through the walls to every room. Then he discovered WiFi when he took his ThinkPad to Florida. He bought the whole WiFi rig while he was there so he could IM poolside. Now it's my job to get it hooked up here before pool season.

Personally, I think he needs to get out more.

heh - we've got a nice enough lan at home... DCHP, i believe, with a mac (used to be on macOS, now a pretty purple imac linux box) as a webserver to a desktop and laptop over wireless.

we've also had LAN games here, with another 4 pc's hooked up to the existing set...

enjoyable stuff.

I am going to build another and network them though to share internet access and such. Plus giving me the option to "settle some couple issue in an Unreal Tournament Deathmatch"

Just waiting on the fundage.

You'd be better off just tossing a Win2k box running ISA instead of complicating it with a *nix solution.
