Alright let's start with the basic's

What do we need on the main page? What's it's functionality?

well, I might be totaly of, but I would call for three distinct front pages:

Page a) General Visitor: Lot's of matches, current match, top matches, news... + login/register

page b) Players who are playing: Some Matches, Your current match, news, more-matches-link, players box (start new match and stuff like that)

page c) A player who isn't in a match: General visitors - some matches + players box.

Based on this idea we will need some advanced arcitecture.

1) Session Tracking for login/guest
2) Database to store matches
3) Database to store players
4) Backend architecture to display a main page based on user being a guest or logged in and then based on matches if player is in a match or not

So I think we could do this in a real basic sence.

We can divide this into some 2 changeable sections:

1) Login section that contains either login information or user information with links for changeable information

2) Current match link with most recent thumbnailed image or list of people seeking matches those waiting longest on top

We would then have static information:
1) Current matches going on
2) General links
3) General New Information


This could all be taken care of with 2 or 3 database queries and a couple of if statements.

From this I gather what is needed is that we finish up the database architecture and then do some function based coding (so that it is modular) to take care of session tracking and content display (don't forget to overload functions to make it easier in the future).

warmage, the backend is basically finished.
All that's missing is the sessions handling, I think.
So, no worries there.

The backend is flexible enough to allow all kinds of pages with pong informations on them.


'We' just have to decide what pages we need, and where to put it.

The HTML skeleton is currently on a spare bit of webspace at:

It won't work in NS4.x and Opera yet but there are ways to work that out once we have testing and stuff done. Some pages are a little broken but it is all sliced up into includes and so can be redesigned at the drop of a hat.

If people think this is OK for testing I can upload it to the site and we can start slotting TP's code into the appropriate places.

As I've said before we need to fix the thumbnail problem and then we can start to roll again so if people want to direct their energies then that is what they should focus on.

Older threads have dealt with the ideas for different panels, etc. so it might help if we fished through the ideas there.
