Topic awaiting preservation: not seeing jung's sigs (Page 1 of 1)

ok... i realize that this probably isn't a big deal...but it IS irritating!!
i also dunno if this is the right place to deal with this...if not...move it!

ok...i've tried seeing jung's sigs in all of my browsers... and no go! what's the deal with that? i could see his sigs last month, but when i go back to last month's contest.....they're now gone.
so....i went and looked to see how he was linking them....and this is what is there for all of his sigs: "<img src='http://127.0.0.1:1034/bug.cgi'>"

this isn't an earth shattering thing... but, like i said, it is irritating. i would really like to see jung's work! emps can't see them either, so i know it's not just me

That is quite odd.

On going to 'properties' for the image, and on going into the post to see the posted code, I get this (for the 'wolfen' sig in the current contest) -

I have had no problems seeing his sigs....just figured I'd post that^ for reference.

yeah, it doesn't even have a lil box with the x or anything that would indicate there's supposed to be an image there. just a big blank space.

jung, i don't think that it's your fault.....i'm sure you don't purposely want everyone but emps and i to see your sigs it's just turned into one of those 'stupid irritations' that i haven't found a good reason for yet.. so it should be fairly easy to fix.
i liked your submissions for last month...and would like to see the ones for this month...as i'm sure they're cool

ok.... 127.0.0.1 would be *your* machine (it always is).
The port (1034) means nothing to me... but it might be some kind of proxy you're running on your machine?
Or maybe asianescapades.com is somehow blocked from your dns... all right,
Open up a command shell and type in 'nslookup www.asianescapades.com' - my system finds it to be at 216.93.168.20.
If yours resolves to 127.0.0.1 (also know as 'localhost') your ISP is apparantly filtering that domain.
If it doesn't it is more likely to be something on your setup and we'll have to examine a bit more to find out what it is.

I still can't see Jung's sigs either but they don't resolve to the local machine they just resolve to nothing - its weird.

i shut off my firewall....and 'bam'...there were jung's sigs i don't know why i didn't think to try that yesterday (no comments on that please).
so...now that i know it's me...it should be fairly easy to fix.

Yep that is it - I turned off my firewall (Outpost) and the sigs appeared. There must be something about Jung's domain which makes firewalls 'nervous'.
