I don't really want to rely on him, for this. On the other hand, I don't have Photoshop, letting him do the transparency for me would be great.

Could be much much smaller...

If you have a program that let's you save the file as a .gif, you should be able to make it transparent... check through your settings to see what you have... In the meantime, get rid of the layer that has the white on it, and replace it with one that has the Asylum background color: #2B4040. You'll have better results...

Good effort though...

I used to have PaintShopPro too... but the question was. What program DO you have? It's hard to give help without knowing what program you used to make the large white one ^above^

Um, well, he means, since you don't have Photoshop and your PSP expired, what program did you use to make that sig? Gimp? MS Paint?

So, in other words, you have no way to edit this image, or make a new one...

Hmmm... Doesn't seem to work for me.

Shrunk down (yes, it needed it) with those colors just loses something.

I think you need to get a graphics program and work from scratch if you are going to use that sig on these forums...

Just one man's opinion.

Peace,

Hey there,

How about this?

Hmmm... Still a little big I am sure by some people's standards in here... But to quote Linda Lovelace, "I like 'em big."

But I assure you I mean sigs only. LOL

Yannah, the GIMP is freeware - works much like PS. Worth downloading to play with if your funds for imaging software are limited... You might look into it.

Jung - you do such nice, quick work... Though it looks like the matte in your first transparency was a little off... Could just be where the selection was made to cut out the white... I'm seeing a tiny white border around the letters.

Hey there,

Well, all I did was make the original background color the transparent selection. Of course the border around the lettering is going to have a differnt value and not be transparent.

I have no idea how others do their work, but I make my original background color the same as this board colors and then make that color the transparent selection. That way the color diference around the graphic I'm working on fits pretty seamless into this board.

i'm very lazy about it too. I don't deal with numbers at all. I simply take a screen shot of the board I have open in a browser window and then paste it in to a new layer of the graphic I'm working on and then use the eyedropper to select the color from that layer and then fill the background with the selected color. BAM - It's done.

I then just delete the layer that I used to paste the screen copy in and the rest is just saving the file with that color selected.

I use both photoshop and Paint Shop Pro to do all my work. I usually use Paint Shop Pro for transparency work as I am just more used to it and know all the keyboard short cuts. Again, just laziness and easiness creeping into my work habits.

Anyway, to make a long story short (too late?) that is why the original graphic has the jaggies as the background color was no where even close to the board colors here. After I posted it and saw it I felt so guilty I made the new graphic to kind of make up for the lousy one I modified...

Peace,

- Jung

That's what I figured happened... You're work is so nice, I knew it either had to be a rush job, laziness or both!
