InI: It crashed IE for me first time I opened the page.

Ok, 48KB is a TAD heavy, I admit it, but it is because it embeds the whole kinkimono truetype font.
If I was capable of shrinking down the charset to only I and N, I would shrink the whole thing down to 6KBs.

What I've done is used a Java tool to convert fonts to vectors and then only use the specific letters of that font unfortunately the link is in the GN links database and the site is down. I'll see if I can't find the applet and then look it up that way.

Its just done it again too - I must stop checking this thread out. The sig works fine even in the brief moment before the browser crashes.

Btw check the xhtml section where I published a few links about svg today.

Yeah I have seen some of those before - I wouldn't be suprised if some are in the GN links databse but as the site is still down............

well, not wanting to be mean, but flash is pretty good as far as small file formats go... after all, it is compressed.

Now, the main advantage I see in SVG ist that it can be easily dynamically created, without the need for special libaries.

I would just like to point out that you shouldn't link SVG to Adobe exclusively. Don't forget that there are other platforms and libraries that can be used for rendering SVG images besides that Adobe Plug-In, and they all support different things...

Nice work ini, is the background supposed to be white? have you tried it with 2B0404? Also when I zoom in the image is not moveable or the area to zoom into is not selectable or the whole image does not get bigger is that normal?
Did that last para' make sense?
Tao
[edit] ok I've sussed it now, "put the little hand on the image right click goto view SVG then rt click again on the area you want to zoom into, now the whole image is resized, ahhhhh. are you going to animate it? [/]

Well, unfortunately, this plugin refuses to work with Firebird, but I can see it with IE6. Evcn so, it's pretty quirky. Is the image supposed to jump down like when you click?

Oh, and forgive me for being thick (I have no experience with SVG), but how did you embed it into the forum? HTML isn't allowed, is it?

Okay that's whacked. I didn't get the SVG viewer Pop-up at work (prolly blocked) but I did here at home. After installing it. the friggin' transparency doesn't work right. AND the pop--up keeps coming up.

Bugger. Looks nice.... but Bugger

Funny thing about it is that before I installed the updated plug-in I could see it fine (in IE on WinXP). Transparency was perfect and everything else. It's an awesome medium for graphics, just quirky. I'm thinking that the new plug-in is a bit jiggy.

SVG makes me sad. It was supposed to be the next "big thing"... Adobe's "Flash Killer", so to speak. It was part of the reason for having LiveMotion, which could export to SVG. Instead, it basically died on the operating table, leaving LiveMotion as nothing more than a flash and animated gif tool, and that made Adobe feel it was not worth maintaining.

No more LiveMotion.

The first time I checked out this page, it crashed my browser too, like Emps. (IE 5.2)

The second time, I got the adobe popup agreement thing, and it was fine after that. I can't say I know a thing about SVG or whatever it is, heh. But whatever, it looked reasonably cool.

Yeah, I can't get it to work with Mozilla Firebird, so I'm guessing the plugin won't play nicely with any of the Mozilla variants. It's stuff like this that prevents SVG from being "the next big thing."

More likely, it doesn't work for mozilla because, as I said, it "died on the operating table".
