I think that's all the explanation that's needed.

Nice work as always Mahjqa.

The wooden scabard and lacing on the sword handle are particularly well done. The sword has some jaggies on the top of the blade at the front. This may be a result of the curve of the blade.

The actual metal texture of the sword is good. Not sure if the engraving of your name on the blade is necessary. You've got your name on the scabard already.

Have you given any thought of using a reflection map on the blade to make it even shinier?

BTW: How was the film?

Sadly, this is the best I could get the jaggies without blurring the edges (which looks awful)

I'm keeping the engraving, just because

The film was great. I'd say it's the best you can get in good, old, clean (well, messy) popcorn entertainment, with some very nice touches. Some may find it a bit slow at times, but that didn't bother me at all. Great visuals with great music..

And I don't mind it one bit that he made it into two movies. The next one's also going to be fun.
And yes, the blatant cliffhanger... I don't really care*.

*klingon proverb.

No... I see what he means... I'm holding mine right now and, in comparison, it DOES seem a touch too curved.

From the tip of the blade to the sword guard is a single perfect curve. That's what gives the blade it's strength. At its highest point the curve is only 3/8" from my desktop, ehich is the center of the length of the blade. When set with the sword guard and the tip of the blade on the desk the "pommel" of the hilt is 3/8" from my destop. I'd maybe stretch that dimension to 1/4" in both counts... maybe. LOL I just realized I'm posting with a katana in my lap... ROTFL

It looks good, we're just being picky. Either way, I'm loving it. As a sword collector I think it's very good.

Looks nice, but there's something with the shading on the blade that bothers me.

It does not look flat sharp, but rather a bit bevelled. Kind of tubelike, especially near the handle.
I grant you that the photo mas posted have the same effect if you look at it in detail, but somehow the mind is more forgiving towards photos.

I think it might have something to do with the wide highlight on the top and the rather dramatic fade to the shadowed area. If the light were coming from top left, the shadow ought to act different on a flat blade. I think it's just a minor tweak needed.

just my 0.2

oh and mas. I'm not sure I really want to know what GD is talking about

ROTFLMAO - Gythrus... Hehehe. HAHAHAHAHAhahaha!!!

I do know some martial arts but no... It's just a hobby. I'd love to learn the blade but I'm not... erm... balanced enough to learn that level of skill yet. I have much more to learn of my soul and mind before I learn something as refined as blade work. Weapons are the last thing you are supposed to learn in martial arts. Train the mind before the body, find yourself within your soul before devoting yourself to the mastery of a tool. At least that's what I was always taught.

Bris? Don't know what you mean. Brisbane? No.

I'm in the USA. In the midwest (Minnesota). I always though midwest was a misleading term. I would call Minnesota North Central myself.

Why do you ask?
