I'm not sure, but I think Amerasu forgot to create this thread.

Well, you all know the drill...comments and stuff on the sigs here, entries only in the other thread.

Oh, and the other thread is here: http://www.ozoneasylum.com/Forum14/HTML/001526.html

Thanks Jung !

I'm not satisfied with the filesize, and the end of the animation requires some smoothing in my opinion... but the filesize is already too big. So, I'll post it as it is.

Moonshadow, I think it's awesome, but maybe you could do something to help the first few and last few frames? It's really abrupt.

Moon Shadow: I love it! Have you considered making it a continuous loop, though? Like having it sit there for a little while, take off, fly around a bit, then land in the same spot? It might help with some of the abruptness of the animation.

Ok, I updated my lunar sig... Smoothed almost everything, except the acceleration : otherwise, it gets very slow and not realistic at all. I know that the sig as it is now is not really realistic, I undervalued inertia a lot, but hey I like it.

Suho, I too first thought about making a loop but I much prefer this sig as when you play lander, your ship being dropped somewhere on the screen.

I've got a big problem though. In ImageReady, when I leave the background layer #2b0404 turned on and save, the sig weights approximately 12kb. However, once I turn off the layer and save with transparency the size jumps to more than 70kb. It never happened before... What am I doing wrong ?

Tao : Thanks ! Love your robot too

Jung : Is that a terminator eye ? Very weird ! Perhaps you could animate your name in it ?

Edit : *Slaps his forehead* lol I am a Sci-Fi addict and I don't even recognize dear HAL, sorry Jung !

Moon: It's HAL from 2001... I am working on an animated version... Will see how it goes. Still love your sig, takes me back... I wasted many quarters on that damn game!

Suho: Gotta love numbers! And I guess Deep Thought was right and the answer is indeed 42 we just didn't know the question until now!

Tao: There is something just so damn creepy about that taobot! I love it! I think it would even look more cool if the bottom shadow was actually faded into board colors so you don't actually get a sense of shape. It looks so much like it is lying in wait for something and the bottom edge is almost dark enough to blend in but a little darker and I think it would look even better. Just MHO.

Tyberius: It happened on both posts in this thread above. The reason I posted again was to see if I could edit the original post. I could and that is how the first message was marked edited by me trying to edit the second post.

Anyway, back to animating HAL...

Edit to put in the animated HAL. And Tyberius I guess the edit is fixed as obviously I just did it...

This is my effort so far....
used some basic wires to give the robot some lifeness... also chose the round robot thingy... how original... I also tried to have some electric activity around the orb and animate it with displacement map similar to the flag tutorial... but it look to much like a waving flag.... so i canceled that... would be nice if someone could help me with the lightning animation...

any suggestions and criticism would be welcome :P

thnx

cheerio,

David
